Photographer Barnaby Draper was born in London in 1969 to American diplomats and grew up in Paris and Charlottesville, VA. After studying political science in college, Barnaby moved to New York in 1995 to pursue his passion for photography. He assisted widely acclaimed architecture/interior photographer Phillip Ennis for a year, learning a great deal about lighting and large format photography. For three years, Barnaby traveled widely free-lance assisting Andrew French, and famous fashion photographers Diego Uchitel, John Huba, and travel photographer Ken Kochey on editorial and advertising assignments. In 2000, Barnaby worked full time with Ruven Afanador working for client's such as French and German Vogue, Amica, L'Oreal, Reem Akra, Badgley Mischka and many others as well as working on Ruven's art book "Torrero". Since late 2001 Barnaby has been shooting on his own for clients such as the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Train, Diane VonFurstenberg, Stilla, Wedding Style, Trump, Crest, American Express, and wedding and corporate events all over the world. Barnaby has taught the "Journalistic Weddings" class at the ICP . His company, Barnaby Draper Studios represents talented photo & video documentarians who cover these events unobtrusively with timeless and lyrical images. Barnaby Draper Studios is based in New York City and Santa Barbara.
